Best beaches for children
The most suitable beaches for young children are those with calm water and sandy bottoms. Pampatar (the main bay) is perfect: calm water, little current and gradual depth. Pedro González beach and the quiet end of Playa El Agua (the eastern section, before the waves start) also work well.
Avoid north coast beaches like Guacuco or the central section of El Agua for children under 6 — the waves can be strong and the bottom drops quickly.
Activities for all ages

Practical tips for the heat
The Caribbean sun is strong all year. Apply sunscreen (minimum SPF 50) every two hours on children, more frequently if they are in the water. The most intense hours are between 11 am and 3 pm — plan beach activities for early morning or late afternoon. Hats and lycra rash guards are essential for the youngest ones.
Feeding children
Venezuelan food has few barriers for children: rice, chicken, fried plantain, arepas and tropical fruits are accepted even by the fussiest eaters. Bring snacks from home for the first few days while children adapt. Bottled water is essential — do not give tap water to children.
